John Repulski is the Music Director and Artistic Director at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in the Mt. Vernon neighborhood of Baltimore since 2014. He directs the Emmanuel Choir, a 20 voice ensemble of professional and volunteer singers, most of whom are from the Peabody Conservatory which is just a block away from the church. John directs the Men’s Schola that chants Compline every Sunday night at 9PM. He is also in charge of working with the arts, managing and scheduling arts events in the Emmanuel gallery, and working with theater and other groups who utilize the Great Hall theater space.

John is deeply involved in the Church on the Square in the Canton neighborhood, a joint non-traditional church plant venture of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland and the Lutheran Synod. Its aim is to minister to young adults in that area as well as others who are attracted to that style of ministry. He has a Master’s degree in Organ and Church Music from Indiana University and a Master’s in Theology and Composition from Butler University in Indianapolis. He has done considerable work for the greater church and church music in general.

John has served as Chapter Dean of the American Guild of Organists. He has worked for many years with the Leadership Program for musicians as a clinical and program coordinator. He has served on the Standing Commission for Liturgy and Music for the Episcopal Church and is currently a member of Worship Team for the Diocese of Maryland. He has a reputation among his colleagues for being an agent of change rather than a conservator of tradition.
